Polly is getting ready for her trip to Austrailia

Me, supervising the packing.

Wow! I never realized how many things had to be done to get ready to go on a long trip. Tomorrow I leave for my big adventure with Mr. and Mrs. Kucks, and four of their friends from Cape Cod. We are going on a 7 week trip to Australia, New Zealand and Tahiti. I understand that Polly #29 and #30 just moved to Australia from New Jersey … it’s a really big country so I probably won’t see them, but I’ll look for them anyway.

First we are flying to Los Angeles to spend the day with some Cape Cod friends that spend the winter in California with their grandchildren. They are going to take us to the Getty Museum … it is supposed to be very special. I’m looking forward to that.

The next day, we fly to Australia. We leave on Wednesday and get there on Friday … I thought that seemed like a really, really long air plane ride, but Mrs. Kucks told me that we cross something called the international dateline so we ‘lose’ a day … Australia is just the opposite of Cape Cod. When it is winter here, it is summer there … and when it is night time here, it is day time there. It is all very confusing to me!!!

We will spend a few days exploring Perth, Australia and then get on a great big cruise ship on Monday, March 15th … The ship, ‘Rhapsody of the Seas’, will be our home away from home for the next 49 days. We will be sailing all around and getting off the ship many days to take sight seeing trips. I am so excited I just can’t stand it. I’ve been jumping all around today, driving Mrs. Kucks nuts!! She says I have a lot of energy … I was just being a frog … doing frog like things!

Today we packed our suitcases. It only took me a few minutes to pack mine, but the Kucks seemed to take FOREVER … even with my helpful supervision.

Polly and her suitcase

I'm all packed! It only took me a few minutes to pack, but I admit I did have to sit on my suitcase to get it closed!

Well, I’ll try to write every now and then to tell you about all the wonderful things I’m discovering.

Wish me Bon Voyage … I’ll be back the 1st of May.

Be the first to like.
