Merry Christmas from Polly #35. My family and I traveled several hours to visit the extended family.  We traveled to Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Maryland before heading home to West Virginia.  I hope that you enjoy sharing in the “Hoppy Holiday Season.”

Feeding the reindeer.

Our first stop was Akron, Ohio on Christmas Eve.  We prepared for Santa Claus’ arrival by throwing out some “magic” reindeer (environmentally friendly) food made from birdseed and sugar crystals.  Notice that there was about 3 inches of glistening snow on the front lawn.

A Treat for Santa!

Next, we set out some milk and cookies for Santa.  We wrote letters to Santa inviting him to enjoy the treats and thanking him for stopping by to see us.

Here I am getting the stocking to be hung by the fireplace (chimney) with care.

The Last Loop

Then after prayers have been said; we take off one loop and jump into bed.  (The loops have been counting down the days until Xmas.)

Looking for Something Green!

On Christmas morning, we check in our stockings first.   The aunts thought that it would be funny to see how long I would be missed and hid me.  Of course I was missed right away, but the aunts did not realize that my family was looking for me.  I missed opening the presents, but was found just in time to find the pickle.

In a pickle!

Usually my family hides a green glass pickle ornament.  (The child that finds it receives an extra present.)  Hey, don’t forget to look for me too!

Sledding in a Winter Wonderland

The next day the family took me sled riding at Firestone Metro Park.

The hills are awesome for sledding!

Wheee! Love to Sled!

The next day we headed to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We headed downtown to see the “creche” in the USX Tower Plaza.  The figures are life-sized.  It is the only authorized replica of the creche that is in front of the Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Italy.

It’s best to go at night because the parking is free and easy to find.

On the way home, we stopped at Sideling Hill, Maryland.  Driving through was like the “icing” on the cake on our memorable holiday adventures.

  1. Another great Polly post! It looks like you had a fantastic Christmas with your family. The creche pictures were very interesting and I bet it was fun to see it.

    My favorite pictures this time:

    1. Polly on the sled. I used to have a sled like that when I was a little girl and it brings back memories of sledding on the big hill near my childhood home, hot chocolate, and lots and lots of fun!

    2. Polly and Benjamin. Polly looks so cute in her Santa suit and Ben looks so excited!

    Thanks for posting!
