Because we hopped around to so many different awesome places…this post will showcase part of our trip through Ohio Amish County.

Picturesque Scene

Our first stop was Sugarcreek. The village was started from Amish and German descendants who were looking for farming land.  The rolling hills reminded them of the land where many of them had originated.  Thus, it’s nickname the “Little Switzerland of Ohio.”   I loved the Swiss-style architecture with the Swiss music playing through the streets.

The coolest part was the facade of several buildings with Swiss scenery that had moving figures. One had train that looped on a track that went inside the building, another had a skier coming down the slope, and yet another had a horse drawn sleigh.

A Quaint Building

Sadly the largest cuckoo clock in the US was being repaired for the upcoming Swiss Festival.

This is a real Amish horse and buggy. We were sure to be respectful and avoid taking any photos of their faces.

Heini's

Moving to the west a couple of miles we came to Heini’s Cheese Chalet. Although frogs don’t eat cheese, I humored my family. They seemed to enjoy the samples and watching them make cheese
