Do you think they'll make me walk the plank next?

Where many a gusty wind did blow,
We splashed, and crashed, and dove!

I was super excited when I heard that Missy was going take Candee and me sailing in the Orleans Town Cove. They decided to lash me to the mast so I wouldn’t fall overboard. I overheard Missy saying, “She might get a little wet up there.” I wanted to yell, “I’m a frog! It’s okay for frogs get wet!” Instead I kept quiet and hopped on board. We sailed for about an hour, and Missy was right, I got splashed a few times. Sailing is so much fun—and I loved it—until we capsized! Wow…talk about getting wet! Everything turned out okay. None of us got hurt and Missy was able to turn the boat over almost immediately. Way to go Missy!

A Few Sailing Lessons that I Learned:

1. Always wear a life jacket!
2. Tell someone that you are out on the water (Debbie stayed on shore and could have called for help if we needed it.)
3. You will get wet! (not necessarily because of capsizing, but from water splashing, so make sure to have a towel and a change of clothes on shore)
4. Don’t lash yourself to the mast!

I had such a great time sailing with Missy and Candee and I sure hope I can do it again someday! Oh yeah, I almost forgot….it was fun getting wet!

  1. I was a little bit worried when I saw the boat capsize, but when I heard all the laughter coming from that direction, I realized that everyone was okay. It looked like a lot of fun!

  2. It was fun! I can’t wait to go again. It’s too bad that Missy lost her sunglasses when we went over!!

  3. If you look carefully at the pictures, you can see she is wearing them in pic #1 and she doesn’t have them on in pic #2!
