Nauset beach

It was almost like I had the whole beach to myself!

I love to go the the beach! On my trip to Cape Cod in August, 2010, I went to several beaches including, Nauset Beach and Skaket Beach. There are differences from beach to beach so I love to take a lot of pictures. I’ve included some of my favorite beach pictures from my trip.

Nauset Beach:

The sun reflects off the ocean and makes a pretty picture!

Sitting on the beach and watching the ocean

Can you believe I allowed Candee to bury me in the sand!

Do you think he knows I'm watching him?

Do you think I should build a sand castle?

Is there any water around here to sail this thing on?

Do you think this hole is big enough?

Nauset Outer Beach:

Here I am on my way to the Outer Beach which can only be reached by boat in August. Missy was nice enough to let me help steer the boat!

One day, Candee, Missy, Debbie and I had the whole beach to ourselves. It was so wonderful!

He seemed to be surprised that I was there!

One evening, Debbie, Candee, Debbie and I ate dinner on Skaket Beach while we waited for the sunset.

One evening at sunset we walked out toward the water at low tide. This is a picture of the beach from part of the way out.

A great place for a relaxing day at the beach!

Orleans Cove Beach:

Look at all the boats!

A peaceful view!

Nauset Light Beach:

This beach was crowded!

Chatham Lighthouse Beach:

beach

There were a lot of people on the Chatham Lighthouse Beach because they thought they may be able to see some whales swimming offshore!

beach

A lot of people weren't happy when they saw this flag which meant they couldn't seim in the ocean there that day!

Some of the Truro Beaches:

Look at the high dunes behind me!

The beach was starting to clear out because it was getting close to dark

The beach in this part of Cape Cod was more dramatic looking than further south

This beach is near the Truro Lighthouse and we were able to see whales swimming offshore from the observation platform!

Beaches near Provincetown:

This is a beach that was close to where we boarded the boat for our whale watching trip which left from Provincetown

  1. I’ve always wanted to visit Cape Cod, and even more now that I’ve seen your pictures! Did you have to pay to get on the beaches or were they free? Also, what was the name of the town where you stayed? Would you recommend it, or is there someplace else think would be better. I love the ocean but I’m not sure that I can afford to stay right on the beach. Sigh…probably not!

  2. Katie,

Thanks for writing. Most of the beaches have a fee to use them, at least until about 4 or 4:30 in the afternoon when you can use them without paying. Even at the time when you no longer have to pay, there were usually quite a few people using the beach.

The town we stayed in was East Orleans and was very nice. Each of the little towns on the Cape seem to have little things that make them special so I don’t think you’d go wrong with any of them.

I know what you mean about being able to afford it because it seems like things are usually a bit more expensive at beach areas, such as the lodging, food, etc. If you do have a chance to go however, I think you’d really enjoy it.
