It was a gorgeous day to be visiting this pretty little town!

Monterey is a waterfront community south of San Francisco. It’s a pretty little town where you can enjoy many water sports, including scuba diving, surfing and whale watching. We were lucky enough to spot a playful sea otter playing in the ocean when we were there, but sometimes you can also see harbor seals and pelicans as well.

The world renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium is located there, as well as Cannery Row. Cannery Row is now lined with shops, restaurants, and other things, but at one time it was a busy place for the sardine canning industry, and was where John Steinbeck drew inspiration for his novel about life in Monterey.

There’s a scenic trail linking Cannery Row to Fisherman’s Wharf, which we would have loved to walk on, but were only in Monterey for a short time. We were there on the same day we were on a bus tour to Pebble Beach, and Carmel, so we had a lot of places to see and experience in one day. It was a pleasant little lunch and photo stop for us and part of a fantastic day!

A pretty view over the bay

This is the life!

The water was so pretty and blue with the sun shining on it!

There were a lot of pretty fountains everywhere, and this was one of my favorites!

I was tempted to ride the trolley through town, but unfortunately, I didn't have enough time!

We decided to have lunch at this little waterfront restaurant, and were lucky enough to get a table overlooking the bay

We checked out the daily specials before deciding on a delicious fresh crab salad sandwich for lunch
