When Debbie, Candee and I decided to take a vacation on Cape Cod, there was one thing on our mind…relaxation. Beyond that, there was only one thing we really thought we’d like to do…go on a whale watching trip.
We were in luck because Provincetown, which is the northernmost town on Cape Cod, is one of the premier whale watching locations in the world!
We went with the Dolphin Fleet which was founded in Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1975. Their goal when they started was to not only give people a fun and exciting adventure, but also to help the public become aware of whales and their environment. Each of the trips with the Dolphin Fleet has an experienced naturalist along who provides a lot of information about the whales and can even identify each of the whales based on several of their characteristics, such as tail markings. This is one of the unique and exclusive benefits of whale watching with the Dolphin Fleet.
We ended doing a sunset whale watching trip and it was fantastic! The boat was less than half full so we had plenty of room to move around and see the whales. We had a lot of whales all around us and added to that, we had the beautiful sunset to watch from the ship as an added bonus. If you’ve never experienced a whale watching trip in the evening, I would highly suggest it!

I don’t know, this looks like it’s a little too close for comfort!
