Gravelly Point, located just north of Ronald Reagan National Airport in Arlington,Virginia, is a plane lovers dream come true!

This is the best way to watch the planes...but watch out for goose poop!

Blue Skies!

Two weeks ago we visited the National Air and Space Museum-Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, and while we were there, we met a wonderful family from Long Island that was visiting relatives in the local area.

After talking to us a bit, they could tell that we were plane lovers and they suggested that we might enjoy watching the planes as they were about to land and take-off at the Ronald Reagan National Airport. Well, we took their advice and headed to Gravelly Point! I’m sure glad that we did!

The time of day, and weather and wind conditions will determine if you will be able to see the planes landing or taking off–we got to see them land! They flew right over our heads. It was amazing!

The park is situated to the north side of the airport and in addition to an up close view of the airport and planes, you will be treated to a scenic feast for your eyes, featuring Washington D.C. on the opposite shore of the Potomac River.

Dreaming about my next trip!

Helpful Travel Tip:
By Car: This park is only accessible on the north bound side of the George Washington Parkway.
By Bike: The Northern Virginia Bike Trail goes right through the park.
By Metro: Although I’ve never done it, I’ve heard that you can take the Metro to the airport and then walk over. (Approximately 10 minutes)

Getting ready to land...

Wow!
