Boyd's Bear Country

I meet all kinds of great friends here!

Boyds Bear Country…Imagine a quaint barn set upon 130 acres of beautiful rolling farmland in the middle of Pennsylvania. That is the idyllic setting for this magical place. As you turn onto the drive leading to the barn, there is a rustic little shack and farm equipment sitting in the fields upon which plush animals are perched. The road is dotted with bear paw prints that lead you to the large parking area for the store.

Don't you think my picture should be up here?

The barn itself is an impressive structure that has whimsical pictures of Boyds creatures painted on the silo, barn and plush animals placed strategically on wagons and other farm equipment both inside and outside the barn.

After you enter the main doors, a magical place awaits you . There is a small pond with a walking bridge over it, creating one of the many unique photo opportunities that you will find throughout the barn.

There are four floors inside the barn and each level is crammed with every type of Boyd available. The lower level houses the food area where there is a deli, a bakery, general store, ice cream shoppe and even an all you can eat dining area.

Can you see me hiding in this picture?

Other floors in the barn house a free museum dedicated to the founder of Boyds Bears and the history of the collections. There is also a teddy bear nursery where you can adopt a bear, a pups and pals adoption center and a place where you can make your own bear in the Super Duper Bear Factory.

You can even have your picture taken in the portrait studio. Boyds Bear Country is located off of Business 15 South, about 5 miles south of Gettysburg, Pa. They’re open 7 days per week from 10 am until 6 pm. They only close on Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and New Year’s.

We had planned to only spend a few minutes there but there was so much to see and do that we lost track of time. Debbie and Candee are constantly on the lookout for great photo ops and Boyds Bear Country is one big photo op.

Young and old alike will fall in love with this magical place. If you are ever in the Gettysburg are, you might want to make a stop here to check it out. I think you’ll be glad you did.

  1. I’ve been to Gettysburg many times but I’ve never been to Boyd’s Bear Country, in fact, I don’t think I’ve even seen it from the road. I like your pictures…it looks like I might have to try to find it the next time I visit.

  2. We too love Boyd’s Bear Country and plan on taking Polly #4 there this summer or fall. We love to do the hayride and the corn maze there! Fun times! It is such a beautiful setting and looks so pretty with all the snow. We plan to get Polly some new “duds” when we go. We think Polly looks very cute in her little white t-shirt but every girl likes something new once in awhile! Did Polly #3 check-out any of the fashions?

I did look at the clothing, but everything was too big for me. I guess I need to have my clothes custom made! I had a great time at Boyd’s Bear Country and I hope Polly #4 gets to go in the Fall. Going on a hayride sounds like lots of fun!
