The Boston Common, the oldest public park in America,is a little a slice of heaven that sits in the middle of the bustling town of Boston. This 44 acre park was originally used as a grazing area for sheep and cattle owned by the local townspeople.
Since that time, the Boston Common has had a varied and lively history. It was used as a training area for the militia, a British encampment when Boston was occupied by enemy forces, pirates were hung here, criminals were publicly displayed in stocks, and in recent years many famous orators have spoken here to include: Reverend Martin Luther King, Pope John Paul II, and Gloria Steinem.
The Boston Common is home to tennis courts, a baseball field, numerous walking paths, and Frog Pond, which of course was my favorite part! Hey, I’m a frog after all! Did you expect me to say anything else?
