Blackwater Falls State Park is located in the Allegheny Mountains of Tucker County near the town of Davis, West Virginia. One of the main features of the park is Blackwater Falls which is a 62 foot waterfall. After the water plunges over the falls, they flow through an eight mile long gorge filled with dark water which is a result of tannic acid which is a result of fallen needles from spruce and hemlock trees in the area.
There are several peaceful walking trails and overlooks to the falls and surrounding areas. It’s a nice place to spend the day with friends and family. In addition to hiking, there’s fishing, hunting and camping in the area.
