The Royal Palace Madrid is one of the city’s top tourist attractions. Even though it’s the official residence for the Royal family, it’s now only used for state ceremonies.
In Spanish it’s known as the Palacio Real and was built during the 18th and 19th centuries.
When it’s not being used for official ceremonies, it’s open to the public for touring and is an interesting place to visit. You can take as many pictures as you want outside, but no photography is allowed inside.
We took a walking tour with a guide and were provided with headsets which allowed us to hear what the guide was saying at all times. Tours are available in many different languages for visitors from almost any country.
When we toured the Palace, we arrived just as the tours were beginning and got in without a long wait. When we finished our tour, there was a long long of people waiting to get in so you may want to get there early to avoid crowds.
After touring the palace, you may want to tour the beautiful gardens outside.
