Shakespeare's House

I can't believe houses that are this old are still standing!

William Shakespeare was born in this house in Stratford-Upon-Avon in 1564. He was a famous poet and playwright and many people come here to see where he was born and lived for part of his life.

jester

This looks like a friendly fellow!

This statue of a jester is at the end of the street in Stratford-Upon-Avon where Shakepeare’s house is also located. The statue was placed here because jesters are found in many of Shakespeare’s plays.

Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway when he was only 18 years old and she was 26 years old. This is the cottage where she lived, but very little is known about the wife of Shakespeare.

Such a pretty setting for a house!

  1. were you able to tour the inside of the cottage?? they look very cool!!

  2. Yes, we toured both places and it was very interesting to see how the rooms looked back then and to get an idea of how the people lived. It’s hard to believe that buildings that old are still standing.
