I couldn't resist having my picture taken with some of my new friends in front of the Duomo in Florence!

Florence is the capital city of the Italian region of Tuscany. It’s considered the birthplace of the Renaissance, and is known for it’s art, architecture, and cultural heritage.

Like Candee always says, "It's all about the angles"!

The colors are so beautiful and make the building look very elegant

Another great "angle" shot of the Duomo

I think I'd need a lot of help to open a door that big!

Carriages for hire in the Piazza della Signoria

The equestrian statue of Cosimo in the Piazza della Signoria. There are also some other amazing statues in this piazza, including a replica of David

A beautiful view of the River Arno

One of the outdoor markets that I visited in Florence

It's said that if you rub the snout of this wild boar statue, you'll be guaranteed good luck and that you'll return to Florence one day. Debbie and I both made sure we rubbed it!

Can you see the Ponte Vecchio behind me? It means "Old Bridge", and is a medieval bridge over the River Arno.

A view of the River Arno from the Ponte Vecchio

Another view of the Ponte Vecchio which has many little shops on it where you can buy jewelry, art and other souvenirs

Do you see all the locks? There is a legend that if you and your loved one put a lock on any surface near the Ponte Vecchio and throw the key into the River Arno, that your love will last forever. I wonder if it's true?

One Response to “Polly #2 Spends a Day in Florence”

  1. It’s ALL about the angles! Great post! I love how the snout of the boar is shiny, which means lots and lots of people have touched it! I wonder if Polly would be willing to take me to Florence…it looks like a great place to visit! I don’t remember, have you been there before, or was this your first time there?
