We were very lucky to have the chance to see El Rastro in Madrid. We originally didn’t think we’d be able to make it because it’s only open on Sunday and we didn’t know if we would have time to go.
This is a street market where you can find almost anything you want to buy. There are many stalls selling everything you can think of-shoes and clothes, books, antiques, flowers, leather goods and almost anything else you can think of. It’s open every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A visit to this huge flea market is almost a must-do when you’re in Madrid. Not only tourists but Spaniards enjoying going there. A downfall to the large amount of people shopping, there’s the problem of lots of pick-pockets so you have to be alert at all times. Debbie and Candee walked around hugging their purses to them as close to them as possible to be on the safe side.
