Okay guys, can you tell who we’ve been learning about in Mrs. Shickle’s class? If the hat and beard don’t give it away, here are a few more clues…
I was born in a log cabin.
I loved to read.
I kept all of my important papers in my hat.
I was very honest.
If you know the answer please leave me a comment and let me know!

I think that it is Abe Lincoln. He was the 16th president of the United States of America. He was born in a log cabin. He was a very special man. He had a tall hat and he kept all of his letters in it. He was 6’4″. My dad is 6’5″. My dad is taller than Abe Lincoln.
Happy Birthday Walker!
Walker,
Mrs. Shickle told me you have a birthday next week and you are very excited about your special birthday trip. Do you think I could go along with you? Great job on your story about Abe Lincoln. I can’t wait to see how tall your dad is.

My guess is Abraham Lincoln. He kept all of his important papers in his hat. His hat was called a stovepipe hat. He got a message from a little girl and she told him to grow whiskers, because she thought he would look more handsome. He was really tall. He was six feet tall!
He lived in a cabin when he was little. He chopped down trees to help his dad. They used the trees to build his house.
I know that he was the president.
Hey Kevin!
Hey Kevin,
Thanks so much for telling everyone about why Abe grew his whiskers. We are learning so much in Mrs. Shickle’s class, that I can’t remember to write about all of it. I am so glad you guys are making comments to help me out.

I think it is Abraham Lincoln. He lived in a log cabin. He was the president a long time ago. He had a beard. He was really, really tall. We wore a stovepipe hat. It’s a very tall hat. He kept all of his papers in his hat. His picture is on the penny.
Polly is dressed like Abraham Lincoln. It’s funny!
Corey, I have a question for you!
Hi Cory,
I was looking at the picture of you and Kevin and noticed that you guys look alot alike. Now that’s not unusual for us Polly frogs, we all look alike, but is their a reason you look so much like Kevin? Let me know.
You are both very smart boys and remembered so much about Abe.

Abraham Lincoln had a tall hat. He had a black coat. He was very tall. Abraham Lincoln died. He was a person and he was the 16th president. He lived in a log cabin when he was a little boy.
Hi Kai!
Kai,
You are such a smart boy! I can tell you really listen to Mrs. Shickle. Do you remember the sad reason Abraham Lincoln died? It made tears in my eyes when Mrs. Shickle read that part to us.
