After 10 weeks of traveling in the Middle East and East Africa, we arrived in Bangkok.  Shane and I were tired after so much travel, so we relaxed and only saw one place in Bangkok called the Grand Palace.

The Grand Palace has very important buildings and they were pretty – there were many statues and gold was everywhere – it was very shiny!  The King of Thailand lives here and the people love him very much.

One building is called the Wat Phra Kaew, a temple where the Emerald Buddha is kept.  I hopped inside and there were many people praying to the Emerald Buddha.  No one was allowed to take photos and no one could talk, but some people did, which was not good.

There was a lot to see at the Grand Palace and I spent many hours leaping around.  It was a bit dangerous for me because people were so busy looking at all the buildings that they forgot to look for a little frog on the ground, so I had to watch out so I was not stepped on!

After we finished looking at all the temples Shane and I leapt on a plane to return to Australia to prepare for our next adventure!

  1. Wow, Polly #7 is a real World traveler. All these colorful buildings are quite different to what we see everyday. I have a question for Polly #7. Is that real gold on those roofs and buildings, or is it just golden paint?

  2. The pictures are great, and the story is very enlightening. Thank you for sharing!

  3. Wow, the buildings look amazing–the colors are so vivid! The ‘lollipop’ trees look good, too! Thanks for posting!

  4. Shane tells me that the gold colour comes from a gilded gold (a gilded object is called gilt) which is a very thin layer of gold leaf that is like a paint.

  5. What a great post, and this looks like an amazing place to visit. Your pictures are amazing as always!
